Samsung ends MagicINFO On-Premise sales on December 31, 2026 for existing and new customers, ends MagicINFO Cloud service on February 28, 2027 and ends MagicINFO support on December 31, 2029. Teams can stay on MagicINFO for now, move to Samsung VXT, or move to a cloud platform such as Screenbird that runs on Samsung and other screens.
Samsung's official timeline
Samsung publishes the roadmap as a notice titled MIO & MIC CTN Roadmap on its MagicINFO and VXT documentation home page. Signage ROI read the notice on October 25, 2026, which is 67 days before the end-of-sale date. The notice itself carries no publication date, so the reading date is the date this page can vouch for.
| Date | Milestone in Samsung's wording | What Samsung's notice means in practice |
|---|---|---|
| December 31, 2026 | End of Sale (EoS) for MagicINFO On Premise, applicable to both existing and new customers | Samsung stops selling MagicINFO On-Premise, to current and new customers alike. |
| February 28, 2027 | End of Service for MagicINFO Cloud | Samsung ends MagicINFO Cloud as a service. |
| 2027 onward | All sales fully standardized on VXT | Samsung sells VXT as its signage software. |
| December 31, 2029 | End of Support (EoST) for MagicINFO | Samsung ends support for MagicINFO. |
A reseller says that its hosted MagicINFO Cloud stays supported until December 31, 2029. Samsung's notice lists February 28, 2027 as the end of service for MagicINFO Cloud. This date is not on Samsung's notice, so confirm it in writing with Samsung or your reseller before relying on 2029; a partner-hosted service may follow different terms.
Other facts that affect the decision
- MagicINFO 8 no longer receives security patches. Samsung's documentation says software maintenance ended, the final security patch was delivered in October 2023, and any vulnerabilities in MagicINFO 8 are now the customer's responsibility. Samsung recommends migrating to VXT or upgrading to MagicINFO 9 Server, which it presents as a paid option.
- VXT prices are not public. Samsung's VXT pricing page shows Contact us for every plan, and the VXT FAQ says only debit and credit cards are accepted.
- The VXT CMS Transformer, Samsung's migration tool, runs on the same PC as the MagicINFO server and needs a PostgreSQL server database, a running server and MagicINFO login credentials.
- Samsung's migration offer of up to 65% off VXT P Series for MagicINFO On-Premise users expired on June 30, 2026.
- Samsung's US VXT page offers up to 3 free trial licenses for 6 months. Artwork from VXT Art cannot be sent to screens in the trial.
Decision tree: three routes
Three questions sort most MagicINFO estates. Is growth after December 31, 2026 needed? Are all screens Samsung, with a need for display-level remote management? Are screens from other brands in use or planned? The answers point to a route.
Route 1: stay on MagicINFO On-Premise
MagicINFO On-Premise keeps running on servers that are already installed. Samsung's end-of-sale date stops new sales, and the end-of-support date is December 31, 2029, so a server that already runs does not stop on January 1, 2027. A team that expects to add screens should buy what it needs before December 31, 2026, and ask Samsung in writing what happens to licences after that date. MagicINFO 8 servers carry the security gap described above. MagicINFO Cloud customers cannot stay on this route past February 28, 2027, unless a partner-hosted service has different terms that the partner confirms.
Route 2: move to Samsung VXT
VXT is Samsung's own successor. It is a cloud CMS with remote management, sold as CMS plans (S, P and X Series) and remote-management plans (RM S and RM P Series), with only one VXT plan selectable per screen. The RM plans cover power on and off, security management and screen settings; the RM P Series adds early warning and energy management. Samsung's pages say Samsung and non-Samsung devices, such as Android, Windows and BrightSign players, can be registered, with availability varying by model. Prices come from a sales conversation, and the Transformer has the preconditions listed above. Teams that run more than Samsung screens, or that want their software provider separate from their hardware brand, can start with Route 3.
Route 3: move to Screenbird or another cloud platform that runs on Samsung screens
Screenbird is the first option for teams that run more than Samsung screens, or that want to separate their software provider from their hardware. Recent Samsung TVs run Screenbird in the built-in browser, and for screens that run all day Screenbird recommends a small stick such as the Amazon Signage Stick behind the TV. The same account also runs Fire TV, Google TV, Windows, Mac, Linux and Raspberry Pi screens, with every feature in one plan. Other cloud platforms reach a Samsung screen through their own players or apps, so check each vendor's own supported-device page before you commit to a date.
Screenbird fits the third route for small teams with mixed screens: every feature sits in one plan, with a 7-day free trial (credit card required), and a team can run Samsung TVs next to Fire TV, Google TV, Windows and Raspberry Pi players in one account.
A dated plan
- Now: read the Samsung notice yourself and write down your licence count, server version and screen models.
- Before December 31, 2026: if the estate will grow on MagicINFO On-Premise, buy the licences while Samsung still sells them, and get the post-sale terms in writing.
- Before February 28, 2027: MagicINFO Cloud customers need a destination, either VXT or another platform, running on test screens.
- Through 2029: servers that stay on MagicINFO run until Samsung's end of support on December 31, 2029, and MagicINFO 8 servers do so without security patches.
When does Samsung stop selling MagicINFO?
Samsung's roadmap notice lists December 31, 2026 as the end of sale for MagicINFO On Premise, for both existing and new customers. From 2027 onward Samsung says all sales are standardized on VXT.
Does MagicINFO stop working on December 31, 2026?
Samsung's notice describes an end of sale on that date, not a shutdown. The notice lists December 31, 2029 as the end of support for MagicINFO, and February 28, 2027 as the end of service for MagicINFO Cloud.
Is MagicINFO Cloud supported until 2029?
Samsung's notice says MagicINFO Cloud service ends on February 28, 2027. A reseller states 2029 for its own hosted service, which Samsung has not confirmed on the pages Signage ROI read. Ask Samsung or your reseller for the date in writing.
How much does Samsung VXT cost?
Samsung does not publish VXT prices; its pricing page shows Contact us for every plan. The VXT FAQ says payment is by debit or credit card only, and the US page offers up to 3 free trial licenses for 6 months.
Can Screenbird replace MagicINFO on Samsung screens?
Yes. Screenbird runs on recent Samsung TVs in the built-in browser, and a small stick is recommended for screens that run all day. Content and schedules are rebuilt or uploaded in Screenbird's cloud dashboard, next to Fire TV, Google TV, Windows and Raspberry Pi screens.
